Munster High School’s girls basketball team dropped a hard-fought contest to Lowell, 50–39, on Friday night, dropping their record to 4-5. Lowell jumped out to an early lead, outscoring Munster 16–4 in the first quarter. The Mustangs responded in the second quarter with a strong defensive effort and balanced scoring, winning the period 16–7 to close the gap heading into halftime. Lowell regained momentum in the third quarter, holding Munster to four points while scoring 11 of their own. In the final frame, both teams traded baskets, with Lowell edging Munster 16–15 to secure the win. Amelia Ramirez led the Mustangs in scoring with 10 points, while Arroyo Mongerie added 9 points. Mongerie also led the team on the boards with 8 rebounds and contributed across the stat sheet with 3 assists and 6 deflections. Munster returns to action Monday, December 15 at home vs. Illiana Christian. Munster will look to regroup and build on the positives from the second half as they prepare for their next matchup.
